April 2018 - Resurrection Sunday Service

This is some text inside of a div block.

Worship that Transports Us

If I described something as “a little peek into heaven,” what image would come into your mind? For some, they’d immediately think of the end of sorrow, or maybe the end of sin, or perhaps reunion with a loved one.

This Resurrection Sunday, our church experienced a little peek into heaven. It came in the form of  worship.  Not a musical performance, but the kind of worship that is so focused on exalting God that Truth proclaimed in beautiful harmonies and orchestration transports you into the heavenlies.

What better place to celebrate the resurrection than before the Throne of the Father Himself!

How did we get there?

We set our minds on things above. The Scripture readings, the sermon, and the text of the music drew our minds to the truth of Christ’s work, specifically on His love-motivated sacrifice for our sin. We then meditated on the implications of our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. This truth led us to respond in praise. We couldn’t help but sing at the tops of our lungs to thank God for giving us Resurrection hope!

One highlight of our Resurrection service was a song written and sung by Henry Kabugo called, “It was Your Grace.” Henry, a young man from our previous village who has grown up in our home for the past 10 years, has come to treasure the work of Christ in his life. The translation of a portion of his song reads,

“In Your house I was made a child.

I was your enemy, But You made a prince of me.

I am no longer a slave to sin;

I was cleansed by what you did for me.”

After the service, our son commented, “Every day we should celebrate the victory of Easter!” Yes, we should.
