The Kavumas in the USA!
Solomon & Jacky Kavuma recently traveled to Legacy Christian Academy in Santa Clarita, California to visit with Tim & Donna Borruel. Tim is an SOS Board Member, founder of LCA in California, and a major supporter of Legacy Uganda. Solomon (headmaster of Legacy Christian Academy Uganda) received leadership training and insight from the Bourrels and LCA staff, while Jacky (SOS Finance Manager) received additional training in financial administration. The Kavumas were greatly blessed by their time with the Borruels.

Interview with Bosco Andama & Edward Kintu
INTERVIEW WITH BOSCO
Tell us about your familyI am blessed with Mae Nakanyike who is my dear wife and a great mother to our four children (Gershom 13, Gabriel 7, Gracious 6, Gideon 3). Mae is a lover of children and takes good care of them, not only does she love her own children but she has a special heart for children in general. She is such a huge encouragement to me in so many ways even much more with my studies. Its been a joy to see our children grow from being babies to ages where they are right now. We do see their love for the Lord growing daily and so we praise the Lord for that, and trusting that the Lord one day will win their hearts to Himself.
How did you first meet Shannon?I do not recall the exact date, but it was in 2008 when I received a phone call from Shannon Hurley who introduced himself to me and told me about SOS ministry. He requested to meet with me and to have a longer talk on how I could possibly help with SOS conference music. I was curious and asked how he got my phone number. But after he explained I was relieved and went on to schedule a meeting which then happened about two weeks later.
In our meeting the first time Shannon told me about SOS ministry and everything I needed to know. It sounded all exciting especially when I heard about the passion for the gospel in such a unique way. I agreed to be part of the conference team and to organize and lead music. According to Shannon's request SOS needed my help, but as I attended the first conference it all turned the opposite because I saw the truth of the gospel preached with power, passion, conviction, honesty, love etc for the first time. I praise God for meeting with Shannon and SOS ministry as a family.
What is your role with SOS Ministries?My Role with SOS is to serve as a music minister in conferences and at Kubamitwe Bible Church, training and disciplining other upcoming music minsters for the glory of Christ in His church . I am also going to provide administrative and leadership support with the soon starting bible school (discipleship program). Not limited to that but to serve in any areas assigned or where there is need.
Tell us about your studies, and how you plan on using your training with SOS.I am so thankful to the Lord for all the past four years at the Southern Seminary. I am training as a Worship minister for a biblical music ministry in the church. I do have one more semester which will end on May 19th 2017 with graduation ceremony, after which my family plans to leave on June 13th 2017 for Uganda where we will directly go to the SOS community and hopefully settle quickly so as to be engaged in ministry as the Lord leads the way.
My ministry will mainly be; providing administrative support for the Shepherds Training Center, Teaching some classes, Training music ministers, leading and directing music programs at SOS such as for conferences, during school periods, and for the community church.
How can we pray for you?* Pray that the Lord will enable me to finish the last semester well* Pray that my family will use the leftover time wisely in preparing for the return to Uganda* Pray that the Lord will bring a full healing upon my wife's back* Pray that the Lord will continue to work in the hearts of our three younger kids that they will come to the faith and personal relationship with Christ through confession and repentance of their sins.

About my Family
I am Edward Kintu married to Hope Kintu, we do not have children yet but hoping that by God's grace He will grant us such gifts in future. We got married on January 31, 2016 and indeed God's blessing is upon our marriage since everything is running on well. We are enjoying the first year of our marriage with much joy and thanksgiving to our God.
How I met Shannon
I met Shannon Hurley in 2006 when I was a student at Nakanyonyi Bible College- Mukono to be a lay reader in the Anglican Church. During this period, Shannon was training and empowering pastors in God's word throughout Mukono Diocese. We had a chance to meet him on Fridays since he used to move throughout the diocese every day. Mukono diocese is located in the central region of Uganda and occupies a wide range of about four or five districts. I liked his teachings in the epistle of Romans which helped me to understand the gospel in its totality and truthfulness. He used to encourage pastors to devote themselves to the ministry of Jesus Christ. This was because most of them spent much of their lives doing different works and neglected the church ministry to the extent that some of them never prepared their sermons.
Shannon's love for the Gospel and Christ's church persuaded me to love him even more and I never wanted to miss a single word from his mouth. This was because I wanted to run Christ's church according to His word for God's glory no matter what. Our school ended a week before Shannon's conferences which gave me an opportunity to stay with him and experienced his life and hard work when preparing for God's flock. He discipled and brought me into his family, and awarded me the chance to complete my high school and later I completed the university education at Uganda Christian University. Sitting at his feet has enabled me to learn a lot from him and caused me to love my God at the highest degree.
My Responsibility in SOS
I was a pastor before I joined the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for my further studies, and I believe that God had done a lot of things during the time of my ministry. After the course of my training, I will be working with SOS Shepherds Training Center as a professor. It is my desire that God may use me to impart the heart of a pastor in the lives of my students for God's glory. I am crying within my heart because most pastors in Uganda do not love the flock of Christ since most of them give the people false promises and messages. Therefore, it is a great opportunity to train the pastors who will be able to shepherd the flock of Christ now and in the next generations. I pray that God may use me for His Names' sake.
My Studies
I have finished my first semester and I am hoping to start my second semester in February 2017. I am very sure that I will use the seminary education to train the pastors in Uganda through the SOS Shepherds Training Center and encourage them to love God by shepherding His flock faithfully.

Danny & Winnie were married this month! Danny is an SOS staff member trained in media arts and helps with Facebook and newsletter photos and updates.
