STC Grand Opening
What a Blessed Success!
Thank you all for your support and prayers. The Shepherds Training Center (STC) Grand Opening on Friday November 9 th was a tremendous success! With about 1,500 in attendance, the formal program lasted nearly all day, with celebrations, a keynote address by Dr. Conrad Mbewe, a VIP tour of the STC facilities and student housing, and remarks from leaders representing the local community, Uganda government, the SOS USA/Canada Board of Directors, the SOS Uganda Board of Directors, and of course the SOS founder and CEO, Dr. Shannon Hurley.
Some of the many highlights included a joint board meeting with the SOS Uganda and SOS USA/Canada Boards of Directors, the VIP tour of the STC (the facilities are impressive, with hand-made mahogany furniture), seeing the tremendous support of SOS and the STC by the local community and leaders at all levels, and the many special guests and visitors from around the globe, including representatives from African Bible University, New Hope Uganda, Africa Renewal University, OIC (Overseas Instruction in Counseling), our new partners at Joni and Friends, and others.
The STC grand opening marks a special milestone for SOS, the culmination of over 17 years of faithful ministry in Uganda by Shannon Hurley and the SOS team, made possible by the faithful support of like-minded believers in East Africa and North America.

Dr. Tony & Holly Gordon – new SOS missionaries
Please pray for our new missionary family that is currently raising support to join the SOS team in Uganda! Tony and Holly and family have a heart for missions and a love for Uganda. Among other things, they will be bringing their medical training to SOS community as part of a planned medical clinic adjacent to the SOS campus.
Our relationship with Sufficiency of Scripture ministries in Uganda started in 2011 with our first trip to visit the ministry and teach in both a women's conference and a small regional pastor's conference. While there we felt the peoples' need for quality medical care and saw their hunger to understand God's word better. We left that trip with a dream that maybe one day God would call us back full-time.

Did You Know?
The SOS campus covers over 160 acres in rural Kubamitwe, in the Luweero District of Uganda;
SOS employs nearly 70 Ugandans, in addition to a senior leadership team comprised mostly of Uganda nationals;
In addition to Legacy Christian Academy (presently at 350 students with plans to construct a high school), SOS has plans to build a 1,200 seat local church, and works with over 1,500 churches through the Baptist Union of Uganda;
SOS is led by Boards of Directors in Uganda and North America, providing dual accountability, leadership and support for the ministry operations.

Legacy Christian Academy - Be A Hero
The week of the STC Grand Opening also included a Biblical Counseling Conference , hosted at the SOS campus. Over 300 pastors from the Baptist Union of Uganda attended, including refugee pastors from the South Sudan Baptist Convention. The Conference included speakers from the Overseas Instruction in Counseling (OIC) ministry, as part of a biblical counseling certificate program. Please pray for all of the pastors we serve, especially those in areas facing persecution.
